Series of Trainings Devoted to Conflict Resolution Through Non-violent Struggle for Young Leaders

IMG_1253Taking into consideration the fact that Armenia is in the unresolved regional conflict and highlighting the peaceful methods of conflict resolution as well as the involvement of young women and girls in it, the members of “Women in Black” Armenian Initiative of the international movement organized and implemented several courses devoted to this issue. The courses are preceded by preliminary activities, during which the young members of the initiative got the necessary knowledge and skills from the experienced trainers for the implementation of their idea of courses.

“Conflict resolution: the role of women in peace-building processes” training course was launched in the capital city Yerevan on October 26th in high school №148 named  after Mushegh Galshoyan for the pupils of 11th grade, accompanied by active discussions and debates.

The second training was held in Kurtan village of Lori region on March 4; then the third one in Aygavan village of Ararat region on March 17 for the pupils of 11th-12th grades.
The course was divided into two parts, where the theoretical part were followed by the practical exercises, during which participants had the opportunity to express and discuss a number of issues. The IMG_9841second part of the training was the discussion part mostly devoted to women’s involvement in peaceful conflict resolution, during which participants were introduced to the history of the international movement of “Women in Black”.

According the reviews and comments by participants, the courses were interesting and important. Most of them expressed their willingness to participate in such trainings, some of them express their willingness to volunteer for the initiative and cooperate in the future. As a result of the trainings, a network of active youth from different regions of Armenia was formed, and we hope it will bring us to the new stages of peaceful conflict resolution with its knowledge and innovative approaches in the future.
